Dawned in 2011 from a strong desire to honor everyday people, doing extraordinary things around the world, the BCG Awards is our personal commitment to honoring do-gooders and providing grants to nonprofits and change makers!
This year the annual awards yielded over 1,200 nominations for organizations, celebrities, causes and everyday people doing extraordinary things from across the United States and Canada. With more than 36,000 votes cast for the 14 winners! As in tradition we announced the winners tonight in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. This year’s awards generated hundreds of thousands of impressions across the web as readers voted online through a custom social media platform, developed exclusively for BCG by Contest.Is. Thank you to all of our dedicated readers and supporters who cast a vote in this year’s awards. Our sincerest congratulations to all of our stellar nominees this year. Young, Black and Giving
This BCG Award recognizes young people 18 and under, making change in their respective communities. Through community service, action, nonprofit work and all around promotion of goodwill!
Aaliyah Rucker, Age 11 who collects and distributes blankets for the homeless and children in the hospital through her foundation A Touch of Warmth.
Best Charity Event of the Year
Who threw the best charity event this year? Galas, Carnivals, 5K Walks, Car Washes you name it, what was the event to remember in 2014?
The winner is 25th Annual Christmas with the Redskins hosted by the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation which each year benefits hundreds of DC kids.
Best Non-Profit PR and Event Planning Firm
Too often the people behind the scenes go un-recognized, but BCG is here to pay homage to the men and women, writing press releases, working nonprofit events and telling the story of our nonprofits!
The winner is Atlanta based Jay Productions Agency!
BCG Best Cause Campaign of the Year
Which causes got you involved this year? This award recognizes cause campaigns designed to create action across the country yielding positive social change.
The winner for Best Cause Campaign is Sickle Cell Disease White House Petition for Patient Reform – which received over 100,000 White House Petition signatures for Sickle Cell Awareness.
BCG Change-Maker of the Year ($250 Grant)
Honoring the community leader who is on a mission to change the world! Who in your community is undoubted laser focused on doing good and leading by example? The winner of this award will receive a grant for their cause.
The winner is Mr.Brandon Frame Founder and Creator of The Black Man Can Institute!
BCG Celebrity Giver of the Year
Which celebrity lead the way in doing good in 2014? Who spoke up for the causes, championed a cause, created social change and did the most good?
The winners are Steve Harvey and Marjorie Harvey for their work with The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation and the Disney Dreamers Academy.
BCG Best Nonprofit (Nonprofit of the Year – $1000 Grant)
The BCG Best Nonprofit Award recognizes excellence in service to the community. Each year our Best Nonprofit Awards allows us to recognize community nonprofit on a mission to create social change in their surroundings! This award alone brought in over 10,000 votes! The organization with the most votes out of all regions is named the BCG National Nonprofit of the Year wins a $1,000 grant for their cause!

The BCG Best Nonprofit Award recognizes excellence in service to the community. Each region will have five finalists, the organization with the most votes in each region will be named Best Nonprofit in that region.
Best Nonprofit in the Northeast Region
Project Hygiene is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established to support underprivileged youth, ages 10-18 by promoting health and wellness while denouncing bullying.
Best Nonprofit in the Southeast Region
Party With A Purpose Inc. is a 501(c) 3 Organization that uses entertainment as a channel to conduct philanthropy to empower and enrich lives.
Best Nonprofit in the Midwest
Show Me Shoes Foundation is an independent non-profit organization established in 2009 to assist young girls who have experienced unexpected hardships.
Best Nonprofit of the Year Southwest Region
Lillie B. Girls is a nonprofit organization that provides empowerment programs for the advancement of girls’ self-esteem through activities promoting positive body image, educational achievement , and moral excellence.
Best Nonprofit organization for the Western Region
The Diamond in the RAW is a 501 C3 organization devoted to empowering and transforming the lives of foster care and at-risk teen girls between the ages of 12-18 through the arts & S.T.E.A.M. education.
BCG Rising Star ($250)
The Rising Star Award recognizes nonprofit organizations less than three years old with a promising future. Organizations that are taking the right steps and creating social change along the way! The winner of this award will receive a grant for their cause.
Mothers of Black Boys (M.O.B.B.)
Mothers of Black Boys, Incorporated is a nonprofit support group for mothers raising black boys! MOBB, Inc. was established to offer resources, support, and networking opportunities that improve the overall growth and development of black males.
BCG Volunteer of the Year
The BCG Volunteer of the Year is an opportunity for nonprofits around the world to nominate volunteers and or staff making a difference in their organization. Who’s always first to arrive and last to leave, willing to lend an extra hand and go the extra mile?
