Atlanta may be home to a thriving film industry, racy reality shows, a bustling business community and exciting nightlife, but for the last five years, the city has also been home to one of the most respected and most important charity events of our time.
On Sunday, June 8, 2014, the 5th Annual Hat-titude: Big Hat Brunch will take place from 2PM – 6PM at the exclusive Summerour Studio (409 Bishop St., NW, Atlanta, GA 30318). Hosted by HGTV’s Egypt Sherrod and 11Alive’s Demarco Morgan, Hat-titude will once again infuse education, entertainment and excitement all for the sake of change and impact.
“I can’t believe we’re five years old,” exclaims Hat-titude founder, Jerika Head, “Having Egypt and Demarco as hosts for this milestone is a blessing and true testament of how far we’ve come and where we’re going.” She continues, “Since the very beginning, it’s been our mission to provide a platform for men and women to rally in support of the fight against cancer. Each year, we get bigger and better, which means each year a cancer survivor gets stronger, a caregiver gains a little more hope and families can make more memories.”
Hat-titude was birthed from Jerika’s personal experience. In 2010, she endured the loss of her own mother who battled bladder cancer; thus, Hat-titude was created as a celebration of life in observance of her mother, and today, this highly anticipated multicultural social event continues to turn tragedy into triumph.
A “must see/must do” event, Hat-titude will feature a yellow carpet, a full brunch buffet from Bridge Catering, a vendor fair, a live band, an “Ask The Doctors” panel discussion, a celebratory two-line parade and the presentation of the esteemed Care-Giver Award. The experience will also feature live music from Elevate the Quest featuring Eric Thomas, musical styling from The Versatile DJ FaDelf and an inspiring performance by Stellar Award winning Gospel artist, Isaac Carree!
The attire is set as an all-white “Day in the Hamptons” affair where the attendees are encouraged to wear hats of different colors to represent the various forms of cancer. This way, the event is not only stylishly uniformed, but neutralized from gender and race and focuses the attention on the heart of the effort.
Tickets for Hat-titude can be purchased online at www.Hat-titude.com and requires a minimum donation of $50. Larger donations are accepted and can also be made before, or on the day of the event. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and other deserving charities.
