Ghanaian National Team Play’s Friendly Match Against Ghanaian Movie Stars for Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital!

Key members of the senior national team, the Black Stars have given firm commitment to the impending Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio Charity Match, fixed for Friday, June 29, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Among some of the players who have given firm commitment to the match are Derek Boateng, Anthony Annan, Jerry Akaminko and John Boye.

A statement from the organizers of the match, Primeval Consult copied to GNA Sports, said more players are expected to join the charity match, as the firm has reached an agreement with majority of the players.

The statement said both current and retired players of the Black Stars are bent on playing a role in the match, which is aimed at raising funds for the veteran coach as well as the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.


The statement said other retired players of the national team including Stephen Appiah, C.K. Akunnor and Samuel Osei Kuffour among others would be brought on board to help in the fundraiser tyo become a success.

Coach Attuquayefio, one of the Ghana’s renowned coaches has for the past two years been battling with throat cancer.

The illness truncated his illustrious coaching career which saw him chalk several successes as a coach.

Proceeds from the match would go to the coach whilst the rest would be donated to the ENT Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Ghanaian movie, music and media personalities are on a bragging spree ahead of the much anticipated Stars Soccer Fiesta Reloaded, scheduled to come off on June 24.

They believe that they will not lose to the Black Stars, but even if they do, they won’t concede as much goals as the Crocodiles of Lesotho did when they played the Stars in a World Cup qualifier a few weeks ago.

This year’s show is slated for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and the movie, music and media personalities who make up the Movie, Music and Media Stars are seriously training so as not to fall prey to the Black Stars.

Some of the celebrities, Samini, Amakye Dede, Agya Koo, Abeiku Santana and Chris Attoh were at their best, proving that besides the microphones and television screens, they are matchless on the football pitch too.

They will face a strong Black Stars line-up made up of Stephen Appiah, Asamoah Gyan, Baffour Gyan, John Pantsil, Sulley Muntari, John Mensah and a host of others.

Contrary to expectations, the movie, music and media personalities are claiming Ghana’s new football sensation Christian Atsu, who featured for them last year, as their team member.

Preceding the main showdown however will be a road show scheduled on the eve of June 24 from Accra through Koforidua to Bunso Junction, to Nkawkaw, to Kumasi to trumpet and sensitize Ghanaians on the need for peaceful, free and fair elections as the nation prepares to go to the polls this December.
