In August of 2008, Joshua Solomon was diagnosed with a inoperable, incurable Brain Stem Gliom. His parents took him to St Jude Children’s Hospital, where he received radiation and chemotherapy for 6 weeks. In December of 2008, his first MRI since the treatment showed the tumor to be almost non-existent. Then like a thief in the night, the tumor came back in May 2009. He lost the ability to talk, swallow, walk and many of the body functions so many people take for granted.
Not quite a year after his diagnosis, the Lord called him home. Before this tumor he was just like every 4 year old boy and he loved Thomas the Train. His parents are committed to helping save another child’s life by working very hard to raise money to find a cure for this ugly beast of a disease.
Joshua’s Wish , Inc. was formed primarily to conduct fund raising to support medical research in finding a cure for pediatric brain tumors. Joshua’s Wish, Inc. also exists to financially assist families of children who have cancer and are undergoing treatment, and to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Joshua’s Wish was founded in memory of Joshua Solomon who passed away at the age of 5 from a brain tumor called DIPG. Children diagnosed with DIPG die within a year of diagnosis. There is not a cure or effective treatment for DIPG. Children diagnosed with this type of brain tumor are considered terminal at diagnosis. Pediatric brain tumors claim the lives of more children than any other type of childhood cancer, but unfortunately it is the most underfunded. Joshua’s Wish formed in 2010 h and as donated over $35,000 for pediatric brain tumor research. We need our community to partner with us for a CURE! We are a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
