Boston Celtics captain, 10 time All-Star, and 2008 NBA Champion and Finals MVP Paul “The Truth” Pierce embodies what it means to be a champion – on and off the court. Pierce founded The Truth Fund in 2002 to provide educational and life-enriching opportunities for under-served youth. Later that year, Pierce received the NBA Home Team Community Service Award for his commitment to the Boston community and active role as a national spokesperson for NBA’s Read to Achieve program. Pierce has hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with hundreds of single families, and has hosted celebrity softball games and other events to raise awareness and funds for causes close to his heart. In 2007, Pierce established the Paul Pierce Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children and he presently sits on the Board of Governors for the hospital. Through his foundation, he has helped to rebuild the basketball court at the Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club and helped completely renovate Richardson Park in downtown LA.
The Mission:

About Alliance for a Healthier Generation
The American Heart Association and William J. Clinton Foundation joined forces in May of 2005 to create a healthier generation by addressing one of the nation’s leading public health threats – childhood obesity. The goal of the Alliance is to reduce the nationwide prevalence of childhood obesity by 2015, and to empower kids nationwide to make healthy lifestyle choices. The Alliance works to positively affect the places that can make a difference to a child’s health: homes, schools, restaurants, doctor’s offices and communities. More information is available at HealthierGeneration.org.

Paul’s Healthy Eating Tips
- Whenever I order dessert and want to keep it healthy, I order Fresh Fruit or Sorbet (sorbets are basically frozen sweetened water flavored with iced fruit).
- I always substitute brown rice for white rice.
- I ask the server for my fish to be grilled.
- When I order vegetables I ask for them to be steamed.
- Always ask for sauces to be served on the side.
- I love sushi – but be aware that “Spicy Rolls” have mayonnaise in them.
