A Woman’s Place Inc. is a newly established California nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women of color working in the entertainment Industry. A Woman’s Place, Inc. is dedicated to supporting women of color working in entertainment careers. Through our programs and services, we believe that we can ensure that our voices are heard and that our images are thoughtfully repre sented in media. Our mission is to build a world where the unique gifts of creative women of color are celebrated, supported and nurtured.
Programs and Services:
AWPINC presents “Pink”, a monthly showcase featuring talented women: an all-female cast of professional musicians, vocalists, comics, poets, deejays.
Offer a variety of business-related “skills-building” workshops helping women grow, artistically and professionally.
Offer a series of networking events, showcases and cultural gatherings focused on the development of creative women; linking investors and collaborators.
Inter-generational and peer mentoring opportunities to promote the advancement of women of color in the entertainment industry.
“Sisters Network”: we maintain a database of performers, producers and technical women to serve as a clearinghouse for those seeking women of color to work on projects.
Provide mentorship and internship Provide an Annual Scholarship to fund the completion of a project (film, recording, original stage play) of a deserving woman.
Provide funding in the form of “Low/No-interest ” short-term loan to women in need of funding to complete a worthwhile project .
