College Bound, Inc., a Washington, D.C. based, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, offers public and public charter school students in grades 8-12 academic enrichment, SAT/ACT test prep, and resources to prepare for and succeed in college. Founded in 1991, the organization offers tutoring, mentoring, and academic and career guidance free of charge to assist students in the District of Columbia Metropolitan area in meeting their post-secondary educational goals.
College Bound, Inc. recently announced the appointment of Inatimi Oguara as Program Coordinator. As Program Coordinator, she is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Academic Mentoring Program. Inatimi will work directly with Toronto Alsbrooks to meet specific program goals and strengthen the curriculum and programmatic thrust of College Bound. She will also work with the College Bound site coordinators to ensure that the needs of students and partners are met at each site.
Inatimi is a 2012 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she majored in History. She most recently was the alumni speaker at College Bound’s 21st Annual End of the Year Celebration and served as the moderator for the Virtual Mentoring Orientation’s Alumni panel. At the University of Pittsburgh, she was a member of the community service fraternity Epsilon Sigma Alpha; assistant coordinator of “Arrival Survival”; and the business manager for the African Students Organization. Inatimi has also worked as a research assistant in the Laboratory of Neurocognitive Development at the Western Psychiatric Hospital of Pittsburgh and tutored with the AmericaReads Challenge.
“I am elated to have an alumna of College Bound join our team”, commented Executive Director Kenneth Ward. “Inatimi was an exemplary student while in the program and received both the College Bound Scholarship and the Juliette Tyler Lewis Award. She not only understands the power of our program first-hand but is a great representation of what can happen when we give the appropriate resources and support to our local youth.”
On her first day on the job, Inatimi commented that, “I am thrilled to be back at College Bound. I believe in the work that College Bound does and I am excited to help the program develop and continue to empower its students. ”
