Last week in Barbados the country cerebrated the launch of the ‘Big Mon Elite Athlete Development Camp’, which was hosted by Super Bowl Champions, The Baltimore Ravens for the children of Barbados. Barbadian native, Ramon Harewood returned to his hometown with teammates Ray Rice, Torrey Smith, Michael Oher and Bryan Hall to host a world-class football training camp for the local children.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the launch of the Big Mon Elite Athlete Development Camp for the children of Barbados,” says Ramon Harewood, offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens.
“The strong academic foundation and diverse athletic training I received growing up in Barbados has enabled me to achieve success on many levels as an adult and it is an honor to share what I have learned with the younger generation.”
Sponsored by The Barbados Tourism Authority, American Airlines and The Hilton Barbados Resort, the football camp featured one-on-one training sessions focusing on the importance of stretching, fitness drills and key football techniques for 200 Bajan children between the ages of 11-18. In addition to the camp’s daily training sessions the children had the opportunity to speak with the players about their careers and inspirations as well as attend a public autograph signing and special screening of Michael Oher’s biographical movie, “The Blind Side.”
Giving is Good and Giving is Global, kudos to the Ravens and Mr. Ramon Harewood!
