The Pencils of Promise (PoP) story started with a small boy begging on the streets of India, whom founder Adam Braun asked, “What do you want most in the world?” His response: “A pencil.” From a pencil, to a promise — PoP empowers its supporters to remember that every good deed and every small act can radically change the lives of others.
Last week, PoP hosted their first charity gala at espace in New York City. Honorees included Justin Bieber, Scott “Scooter” Braun, and AgencyNet. The evening was complete with a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres, a seated dinner, a silent auction as well as musical entertainment.
Singer, and Grammy award winner Usher Raymond was on hand.
Pencils of Promise (PoP) is a non-profit organization that builds schools and increases educational opportunities in the developing world. They are a 501(c)(3) organization with school-building operations in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
