Charity Spotlight: Y.U.N.G. Harlem

Tiffany Bender and Alize Beal created Y.U.N.G. Harlem

I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting two spectacular ladies. The founders of Y.U.N.G. Harlem, while attending the relaunch of their nonviolence campaign on December 21st. A room full of positive young African American entrepreneurs, sponsored by Opi nail polish, Source, and Black Enterprise magazine created a wonderful atmosphere to highlight these young givers.

Young ladies Tiffany Bender and Alize Beal created Y.U.N.G. Harlem in 2008 after the shooting of Ms.Benders brother. After this horrible act of violence they decided to step forward and change the impact that violence and gun violence had on Harlem,NY.

Y.U.N.G. Harlem non-profit organization aims to lead by example, providing positive leadership for the youth of New York City. Their mission is to restore community integrity within the youth of the communities in which we serve. Y.U.N.G. Harlem understands the struggles of their peers and works to use leveled communication as a way for them to exceed their dreams of social, financial, and academic success.

After teaming up with fellow non-profit organization Harlem Mother’s S.A.V.E., the organization was able to spread its message of youth safety around the city.
With the future of their organization in a wonderful light, they wish to start a way of change, Bringing the good vibes of Harlem back, a renaissance renewal.

Tiffany Bender toasted to the accomplishment of the organization and said “Let’s bring the Hope back to Harlem!”

Their plans for the future include a reoccurring ‘Book Scholarship’ for new college freshman, Young Harlem Gala which highlights positive people of the community, high school tours to spread their positive message, and most importantly to create a sound firm platform and a nationwide impact.
