My Sister’s House, Inc., is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that provides services, programs and resources to empower domestic violence victims and their children to live free from abuse. The organization operates an emergency temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for up to 36 women and children who flee abusive situations in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties in South Carolina.
Vision
To end the cycle of domestic violence in the tri-county area and align My Sister’s House, Inc., with SCCADVASA in the effort to end domestic violence in South Carolina.
There services include a 24 hour crisis line, a children’s program, music, arts and pet therapy, counseling and therapeutic assessments and contact with police and emergency help services.
My Sister’s House continues to advance the cause of women’s issues. At the same time, the organization provides for the basic physical needs of food, shelter, and clothing for abused women and their children, while also addressing psychological needs of self-esteem, autonomy, self-respect, self-worth, and ultimately, self-actualization.
