Charity Spotlight: Lifting as we Climb Foundation Positively Influences the Lives of Black Male Youth in Detroit and Washington, DC!

 

The Lifting As We Climb Foundation, Inc. (LAWCF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created, organized, and managed by five Hampton University graduates. Established in 2004, the organization is primarily made up of young business professionals, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of underprivileged, low-income youth.

The Lifting As We Climb Foundation, prides itself on being a “youth to youth” mentoring organization, with a specific mission to uplift disadvantaged, “at risk” youth between the ages of twelve and eighteen.

Mission:
 To improve high school graduation rates by encouraging underprivileged student-athletes to devote equal amounts of energy into Athletics, Academics, & Life Skills Development.

Enjoy an amazing performance by Edward & April Ellington, of the Savoy Ellingtons.  Edward Ellington and April Ellington, son and daughter of the world-renowned jazz musician, Duke Ellington comprise the dynamic brother-and-sister vocal duo, The Savoy Ellingtons, bringing you along on a musical tour from the time when music was truly music, and elegance was the fare of the day. The electrifying essence of this duo is reminiscent of the 1940’s, transporting us with the elegance of their music today. They have performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and South Africa. Renditions of jazz, pop, and international rhythms are enhanced by their musical ensemble, which ranges from a trio to a full orchestra.

Privy guests will enjoy delectable tastings and cocktails prepared by 10 top chefs from the DC area. The reception is an opportune time to hear great music, network and make new friends.  You may also opt to have a portrait taken in the garden alcove, or visit our silent auction display.
The Organization of American States building, grounds, and fountains will be available for you to explore and enjoy.
