A Very Melo Weekend – Puerto Rico

Carmelo Anthony preps for a weekend of giving set for Puerto Rico to raise money for his Carmelo Cares foundation. Join Melo and friends for A Very Melo Weekend – a signature fund-raising event benefiting The Carmelo Anthony Foundation. Participants will not only experience a weekend to remember, the funds raised will be used to create a lifetime of memories for kids in under-served communities and help them to achieve their dreams.
The event will be held at the luxurious St Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Puerto Rico, which boasts a magnificent two-mile crescent of sandy beach, a challenging 18-hole golf course, golf and beach clubhouses, and a charming seaside village. Weekend highlights include:
• Friday August 5th – Welcome Reception, Movie Screening
• Saturday August 6th – Golf, Beach Volleyball, Pool Party/BBQ
• Sunday August 7th – Court Dedication
Carmelo is currently producing a film on Roberto Clemente through his production company co-owned with his lovely wife LaLa.
Roberto Clemente (1955–72) was the first Puerto Rican major league baseball player that played for the Pirates. He was awarded the National League’s Most Valuable Player Award in 1966. He was one of the best baseball players ever.
About the Carmelo Cares Foundation
Established in 2005, The Carmelo Anthony Foundation is the vehicle by which Carmelo gives back to the community through a variety of outreach programs and donations. The mission of this nonprofit organization is to positively impact the lives of those living in underserved communities through 3 key focus
areas – education, recreation & community outreach.
The vision of the foundation is to provide programs & services that will empower & inspire the less fortunate to “Be More” than their circumstances may dictate focusing on education, recreation, and community/ family enrichment.
As a vehicle to raise awareness and foster innovation around educational and recreational opportunity needs for children, families and their communities, the Foundation sponsors special projects and events, while collaborating with other donors, business leaders, celebrities, athletes and nonprofit organizations.
