As an HBCU graduate myself, I know the struggle that faces thousands of students are forced to drop out of school due to financial hardship. Allstate’s Quotes for Education program helps to keep these students in school by donating funds for scholarships at Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country. This year, Allstate has partnered with the Tom Joyner Foundation to raise scholarship funds to assist HBCU students and help them to achieve their educational goals and graduate college. All you have to do is receive an insurance quote from Allstate between August and December, 2012 and mention Quotes for Education, and Allstate will donate $10 to the Tom Joyner Foundation scholarship fund, up to a total donation of $150,000!
“The Quotes for Education program brings to life a vision shared by Allstate and the Tom Joyner Foundation, which is to support programs for HBCUs that create educational opportunities for the next generation,” said Cheryl Harris, senior vice president at Allstate. “As an HBCU graduate, I know firsthand the difference a scholarship can make. If it was not for the education I was able to receive, I would not be where I am today.”
Harris, a Chicago native and Florida A&M University graduate, was recently featured by Women’s Enterprise USA Magazine for her efforts with supplier diversity. Harris grew up in the inner city of Chicago and credits scholarships from organizations like the Tom Joyner Foundation for helping her attain her degree.
The Quotes for Education program is part of Allstate’s year-round commitment to create, support and sponsor programs that empower the African-American community. For the first time, participants can also vote for the HBCU School of their choice to receive a bonus $50,000 donation that is specifically earmarked for scholarships.
