Today we joined forces with Atlanta’s Majic ATL 107.5 for our 2nd Annual Heels and Hope. For the past two years BCG and Radio One Atlanta have rallied Atlanta women to give back to other women in transition. To date, the initiative has collected thousands of items to help women in Atlanta get back to work. This year, we welcomed brand partners Strength of Nature’s African Pride, Trader Joe’s of Sandy Springs, and Indique Virgin Hair to the team as well as a over 30 volunteers. Our 2016 beneficiary was Mary Hall Freedom House. The mission of Mary Hall Freedom House is to empower women to break the cycle of addictions, poverty and homelessness for themselves and for their children.
Mary Hall Freedom House, Inc. was founded in June 1996 to address the need for residential substance treatment services for women in the Metro-Atlanta area. In 1998 they began providing housing to homeless women and their children. Since its humble beginnings, Mary Hall Freedom House provides housing and services to over 200 single women and over 75 children, restoring over 500 lives annually, and has served more the 5,000 women since 1996.
Today’s event celebrated 50 women who are recent graduates of the 2016 Recovery Program. The ladies were treated to a day of pampering with hair and nail services and an empowerment panel. Volunteers provided mock job interviews, mental health counseling and a “Back to Work” shopping lounge with shoes, suits blouses, jewelry and beauty supplies. We served up our signature #SundaySoulATL Pop-up dinner experience with music provided by Majic 107.5!. The ladies enjoyed a 5-course pop-up dinner, the menu featured: spinach dip, shrimp scampi, lemon pepper salmon, jerk chicken, sirloin tips, peach pound cake and so much more.
Thanks to everyone who donated items to the cause and most of all thank you to our volunteers, check out all the photos below.
