Beyonce And Goodwill® Partner To Create Jobs Throughout North America

Goodwill BEYONCEBeyonce and Goodwill are continuing their partnership throughout the close of 2013 to give back and create jobs. Bey who has been an advocate of many causes will use her North American Tour to Benefit Goodwill’s Job Training Programs during the Holiday Season. The remaining fourteen stops of the Mrs. Carter Tour will impact Goodwill headquarters in 13 communities, where Goodwill will encourage fans and concert attendees to #BeyGOOD this holiday season and support Goodwill’s job training and community-based services that reduce unemployment and help people care for themselves and their families. Goodwill collected 27,500 pounds (or 14 tons) of donated clothes and goods through its partnership with Beyonce this past summer, equating to more than 800 hours of free on-the-job training at Goodwill career centers.

During the month of December, there are two ways to participate in Goodwill’s #BeyGOOD initiative. Ticket holders are asked to bring donations to Goodwill and then bring their donation receipts to the concerts or bring clothes to the concert and look for the Goodwill donation bins to deposit their items. The first 100 ticketholders with their donor receipts or donations, who arrive between 7 and 8 PM, receive stickers qualifying for a chance to be upgraded to the BeyStage or BeyHive VIP areas. Number of available upgrades in each market will be determined the day of the show.

“I am excited to team up once again with Goodwill in supporting their efforts in finding and creating jobs for families in need,” said Beyonce.

The donated goods collected during the partnership will be sold in the communities where they were collected, and the revenue will benefit Goodwill’s employment programs for people with disabilities, disadvantages and other challenges to finding employment. Goodwill provides a variety of training opportunities, including resume reviews, mock interviews, and sessions on dressing for success, and it provides access to computers, fax machines and phones to meet with potential employers. In addition, Goodwill provides support services so that people have stability both at home and in the workplace. These services include child care, financial education, transportation, youth mentoring and more.

“The people who come through our doors are a diverse group, from single mothers and recent immigrants to people with criminal backgrounds and adults who never finished high school. But everyone is looking for the same thing: a better life,” said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “We’re proud that Beyonce is using her platform to share the positive impact Goodwill has on local communities, the environment and the lives of the millions of people Goodwill assists each year. We are incredibly grateful for Beyonce’s support of Goodwill’s mission.”
