One of my favs Beyoncé has teamed up with Condoleezza Rice, Jennifer Garner, Jane Lynch and more to do one thing, ban the word ‘Bossy’. In a new Lifetime PSA the women have join forces rid the word “bossy” from our vocabularies and encourage more girls to be leaders. The PSA is a collaborative effort between Girl Scouts of the USA, LeanIn.org and Lifetime TV network.
“Being labelled something matters,” Jennifer says in the PSA and that struck me because it does and our girls and women are already labeled enough, labeling them anything that stalls their growth or ambitions is a problem.
Queen Bey added that ladies are brought up to take such feedback as an insult while males see it as a compliment. “Girls are less interested in leadership than boys,” she admits in the clip. I don’t know the facts here but that is so surprising to me as I know tons of ambition women and girls who are leading the change. Yet the fact remains that this is occurring and we all can do our part to encourage girls that there is nothing wrong with wanting to be a leader.
Beyonce stated “I’m not bossy – I’m the boss,” watch the full PSA below now!
