BCG is proud to announce our summer cause campaign “Help Us, Help Them” a national toiletry drive to benefit homeless communities across the country. Our goal is to raise enough items to prepare care packages for over 10,000 individuals! We are proud to partner with Grammy award winner, singer and songwriter Kem, who has been a huge advocate for homelessness in our communities! Kem is the official BCG Homeless Cause Campaign Celebrity Ambassador.
On any given night there are 643,067 people experiencing homelessness in the United States; of that number more than 40% are African-American. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, African-Americans, while only representing 11% of the general population, represent the highest homeless population in the country!
BlackCelebrityGiving.com (BCG) is proud to announce our summer cause campaign: “Help Us, Help Them,” a national toiletry drive to benefit homeless communities across the country.
“Homelessness for me is a cause that touches my heart like no other. I’ve had the chance to speak intimately with homeless individuals and families; what propelled me the most towards this campaign, is that I know at any given time everyday, people are a paycheck or two away from being in the same situation,” says Jasmine Crowe, founder of BlackCelebrityGiving.com™.
The goal of the campaign is to raise enough items to prepare care packages for over 10,000 individuals this fall! BlackCelebrityGiving.com™ is honored to partner with Grammy award nominee, singer and songwriter, KEM, who has been a tireless advocate in the fight against homelessness in our communities! KEM is the official BCG Homeless “Help Us, Help Them” Cause Campaign Celebrity Ambassador.
“I’ve been fortunate in my life to overcome many obstacles, including being addicted and homeless,” said KEM. “If it weren’t for organizations dedicated to helping the homeless, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I hope to be an inspiration to others to offer something tangible like toiletries, with the hope that we might make a difference for somebody who might be struggling to manage life on a daily basis.”
Throughout the summer, BCG will host several Twitter chats and forums on homelessness to bring further awareness to the cause, including a Twitter Chat with KEM, encouraging participants to pledge item donations to the campaign. The campaign officially kicked off on the first day of summer, and will last until August 30th, 2012.
Homeless shelters and programs interested in becoming beneficiaries of the drive are encouraged to send item requests to Jazzy Jones at Jazzy@BlackCelebrityGiving.com

My church is True Worship Christian Fellowship in Atlanta, GA we are a small church however our Pastor Rev Clifton Dawkins cooks and we serve food to the homeless every Saturday morning feeding over 250 people every week. Our pastor buys the food out of his pocket and cooks it. we really do not have the money but we sacrifice all we have to live true to the Church’s mission statement “helping the lest of these” Matt 25:31….could u give us some information on how we can request donations to help our miinistry. Your attention to the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
I have followed and admired all of your causes and awards in the communities accross the United States. But you don’t need a “BIG TIME” recording artist to accomplish this. I know you have heard of the DO Foundation. And perhaps the most recent events occuring their, or the FOX 2 Detroit 24 hour airing of this.
But there are artists (who lack the fame which has led him to forget actually what it is like to just be a human being, where he can or won’t or both, get out on the streets and walk side by side these homeless. Nor acknowledge the true story of how the whole annual Mack & Third event came about.
There is “speaking of what you are doing”. And then their is actually DOING. So although I think it is a great idea to collect toiletries to pass out to those who need it. I think it would be of greater meaning, success(not stardum) but God success, to gather toiletries and what you plan to give to the city of Detroit. Donate directly to the DO foundation, because it is the ALL Volunteer staff there that take these bags out on the streets every month. That not only feed, clothe and house homeless citizens of Detroit Mon thru Fri 9am-7pm every week. But also Actually go ourself’s to collect donations, move families into the homes, and work side by side each day.
Please consider what works are being done by whom. You won’t see any musician at the Mack & Third event communicating with, laughing with, listening to, etc. Except Brian O’Neal and the Do-er’s of the DO Foundation.
(P.S. I chose to write this on my own and at this moment know one knows about it except me, I felt it needed to be said, as those with nothing are giving, and those with are NOT.)

Thank you for your comment, just so you know our drive will help homeless individuals in several cities not just Detroit. Also the DO Foundation is one of our grant recipients so our work has benefitted them in the past.
I am writing to say that I was wrong for taking my own personal opinions interfer with the main cause and purpose, which is helping the homeless. My comments are My own personal words and do not represent any other person or organization. If what I write is valid or not. Does not chance the end results that I very passionately work for and that is again to alleviate homelessness. It is my personal works that mean and stand for much more than any words which I can express. So I am in deep meditation and prayer today for healing for all. If what is written or spoken is taken out of context, if it is true or false. That is something that must be dealt with on a much more personal level and really has nothing to do with me (1 person). I extract my previous mention of any person, place or organization. I represent only myself and it is NOT personal it is a matter of cause and effect. Which again leads to the result of my actions. Those which will acheive the goal of purpose. My actions do speak much louder than words. If you have had the choice to really get to know the human being that I am. You will know this. God Bless, success and prosperity to all.
