CeeLo Green Gives Back with Launch of The GreenHouse Foundation. This Friday, The Voice Judge, Singer, Songwriter and producer will also add actor to his many list of titles with his new movie Sparkle. Amidst the buzz about the movie, the star also has added one more title to his mantra and that is Philanthropist. The GreenHouse Foundation was founded to educate, inspire and influence school aged children in disadvantaged areas to become responsible stewards of their environment, communities and future.
The foundation was created by CeeLo and his sister Shedonna Alexander. With a tradition of community service and philanthropy, the GreenHouse Foundation was created to continue a family legacy started by their Grandmother, Ruby Callaway Robinson, Executive Director of CASCADE, and their late mother Sheila J. Callaway who was an ordained minister and one of the first African-American female firefighters in the city of Atlanta.
CeeLo believes that children have the biggest stake in the future of their planet and environment. Ultimately they are the ones who bear the consequences of the economic, social and environmental decisions and actions that are made today. One of the greatest challenges we have as a society is to educate and equip our children with the attitudes, knowledge and tools needed to insure healthy and sustainable futures for all.
The GreenHouse Foundation is committed to providing programs to schools, the community, and children in disadvantaged areas that encourage ongoing concern and stewardship for our planet. We have developed the following programs and initiatives to be launched through a phased approach as to maximize effectiveness and long term results.
The organization has announced phase one of their plans to give with, the Green Garden Education Program, will offer schools a chance to partner with the foundation in building schoolyard gardens for kids to tend themselves. Students will not only learn environmental responsibility and sustainable practices, but also basic science and math in a fun outdoor setting.
CeeLo and Shedonna are committed to the mission of the GreenHouse Foundation and its’ goal to empower children with the knowledge, attitude and desire to positively influence their futures, their communities and the long term sustainability of their planet.Goal and Program Initiatives include:
