Trying to sneak out of work Tuesday afternoon I ran into boss Mr. Carter, he asked me to step outside with him for a minute as he glowed with joy, I call it cheesing. He was excited about a charity event he was going to on Wednesday and told me I should come. He showed me the cover of the cover and it looked very familiar. BCG did a preview of the event and it was a set of positive adjectives raised to the one hundredth power. It was so much fun! The food was great, the ladies looked heavenly, and the fellas cleaned up but I soon learned this event was bigger than music and fun; it was about being a humanitarian on every level.

The Beyond the game charity concert was held at Park Tavern of Atlanta’s Midtwon on a beautiful Wednesday evening. I didn’t know much about the event but I quickly found out. Q-Parker from 112 performed a couple songs, some that you can find on i-tunes. Anthony Q from Day 26 Diddy’s Making the Band performed as well (that brother can SING). I wasn’t surprised that so many people supported Chanita but the level of dedication was quite warming. Super stars like Jazzy Phae, JoshPowell of the Atlanta Hawks, NBA Champion Jason Terry of the Boston Celtics, Q Parker, and RL were all in attendance for kids in Swaziland Africa. 100% of proceeds I repeat 100% of proceeds go to the children and Chinta Foster is proof. She’s been to Swaziland and has video clips to prove it. She is a change maker, philanthropist, and a champion of giving back to a foreign place far far away. Josh Powell is a class act, really nice guy.
Beyond The Game is a 501c3 organization created to assist the widows and orphans of Swaziland Africa. Like you, we were clueless of the country that is the size of New Jersey and still is one of the few countries run by a King. Swaziland has 950,000 people and there are 120,000 orphans! The AIDS rate is alarming and it is a fact that 70% of the children will be HIV positive by the age of 15. It has also been calculated that if something drastic does not happen to change what is going on, there would be no more Swaziland in 40 years!
Concert For a Cause brought music lovers of all kinds together not only to celebrate good music, but to bring awareness of Beyond The Game and the work they do in Swaziland Africa.
This year Beyond The Game will be honored Cristal Steverson (Be A Role Model). The awardees received personalized footballs and made speeches. We watched a video on Cristal’s Be a Role Model. These women continue to amaze us. Maureen Kornowa (North Gwinnett Co Op), also won an award. Her message was to keep giving and as long as Chanita Foster’s exist we can keep giving. Her video featured a gentleman who walked into her operation and anonymously gave away $400. BTG Girls (Women with No Excuses to Change the WORLD).
If you noticed in the photo above women were in white and red dresses. Chinata of (DETROOOOIT) reached out to Tree, Sabrina Rowe, Sharlinda Parker, and other close friends for support (in white) and they reached back and supported her. The concert got a bit emotional when Chanita spoke of the difficulties of day to day tasks and knowing that if she didn’t work for the kids in Swaziland they would not eat plus the worries of her own children. The women in red will usher in the new efforts growing Beyond the Game. I have the upmost of confidence that they will do as well as those who came before them if not better.
I went to a town hall meeting Saturday morning and it was filled with homeless people who had questions for health professionals. What I learned is as we help those in need of help, we have to support those who concentrate their efforts in helping others. In other words if you know someone with a non profit like Tashieka Triutt of Donate Love, a young lady I met at the Charity event reach out and ask “How can I help you Tashieka”? Do not shirk or evade emails and phone calls because no one man or woman can seek to change those in need of help alone. Chanita Foster’s of the world and Tashawnya Menefee’s of the world can only seek to be a catalyst with our support. So the next time someone asks you to go to a charity event or to volunteer, remember this event that feeds kids. More importantly remember how privileged we are and remember that feeling of hunger you have and the way it makes you feel, then multiply that by half of a country. We’re all busy but my ex girlfriend once told me Immanuel you make time for things you care about she was right. Care more, if you don’t have monetary assets, donate your time. SO many peace and blessings that these outstanding Black women who do this for the sake of helping others. I thank you and hope wish you future success and blessings. Yes you can call me or email me anytime for anything, after all you earned it.
