Charity Spotlight: 3Dreads and a Baldhead

3Dreads and a Baldhead provides opportunities for people in black communities to transform their lives by maximizing their physical, mental, spiritual, and economic potential.

The organization hosts several events each year to impact our youth including: The Black Youth Conference Day, BlackYouthaPalooza and The Be More Academy.

The Be More Academy is a youth friendly space established for black youth by black youth to support the growth and development of their leadership capacity, personal development, mentoring and networking skills. The leadership body of the Be More Academy is also ‘response-able‘ for the facilitation and organization of the annual BYCD CHUO Ad – Jesslyn Colley & Sara Musa (held the last Friday and Saturday of February). The work done through the Be More Academy mentoring program strives to provide a greater sense of vision for our community, ourselves and the World.

Black Youth Conference Day Through the Be More Academy, youth empower themselves to be their visions for the community and themselves. We would also like to altar the conversation of who black youth are in the community, to create a space of self empowered young people that engage the community in powerful ways through youth lead programs and projects. (BYCD) is a gathering, held annually, open to black youth, young adults, and adults from across the Nation’s capital in order to engage them in a conversation, empower themselves to be active participants in the discovery, manifestation, and articulation of their visions for themselves, Black communities, and the World!

BlackYouthaPalooza is a networking event featuring some of our communities’ YOUNG, GIFTED and BLACK!

The organization is based in Ottawa, Canada to learn more visit www.3dreads.com or follow them on Twitter @3dreads.
