Charity Spotlight: Change Tomorrow Today Inc. (CTT)

Change Tomorrow Today’s mission is to empower the underserved residents of NYC by promoting constructive and sustainable change within their communities, while utilizing youth as ambassadors placing them at the forefront of community revitalization.

In the past few months they have organized several events: Meals in Brooklyn (MIB); this event was designed to reach out to those who are in need of a meal, especially individuals who are not able to provide a meal for themselves. MIB provides a warm and healthy meal on the streets of Brooklyn as well as at soup kitchens and assisted living residences. The organization also serves food to individuals staying at the Brooklyn Armory shelter downtown Brooklyn and to the Senior Citizens at Northeastern Towers in Queens.

CTT has also put together events which are geared to better the communities and their residents. As an organization CTT has attended numerous health fairs in Brooklyn providing residents with free glucose testing, blood pressure screenings and breast exams. Another program Community Block Appeal (CBA) project assembles youth and adult volunteers into cleanup crews making sure that parks and blocks are kept sanitary. This project will instill ownership on the individuals living near these parks and blocks so that they can themselves take responsible of the upkeep of their neighborhood.

CTT has join forces with Councilmember Jumanne Williams of District Council 45 working on the “Not in My Hood” project. This program is an on going imitative to end violence in Brooklyn and to unify the youth in performing community service. CTT is organizing a concert on September 18th at Brooklyn College for youth, for more information on this great event visit notinmyhood.net!

CTT’s next event will be held this Saturday, September 10th 2011 at Seaview Playground. Volunteers, members and residents of Carnarsie will be participating in the “Community Block Appeal” (CBA) cleaning the park form 10am to 12pm.
