Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to design and implement dynamic education programs and high impact social enterprises in under-served communities within our ethical framework. Their goal is to empower individuals with the skills necessary to plan, develop and execute innovative solutions to local issues. We envision a world in which individuals and communities are empowered to “dream out loud,” meaning they have the space to think, to imagine and to will their inner most dreams into vibrant reality, captured by the motto “When Dreams Emerge, Communities Arise!”
In July Dreaming Out Loud founded a farmers market and holistic health experience called Aya Community Markets to help provide fresh produce in a “food desert.” At the market they provide twice as many fresh fruits and vegetables for people receiving government assistance. The markets also serve as gateways to community resources that residents need to get healthy and stay healthy. Our holistic approach includes experiential education, outreach and empowerment via chef demonstrations and nutritional programs. Local medical schools even help us to conduct screenings for diabetes, glaucoma, blood pressure and body mass index. In addition, our children’s healthy reading circles and exercise activity classes such as yoga, capoeira, and massage therapy help to sow the seeds of community health.
