Charity Spotlight: First Purse, Inc. Provides Financial Education to Young Girls!

First Purse, Inc is a 501 (c) 3 organization that provides financial education to young girls ages 8 to 10. Through workshops, special events, and seminars, girls and their mommies are taught to consider finances as apart of maturity. Girls are empowered to become financially literate, invest in their communities and to learn about financial independence. In addition to learning about money intelligence, girls are encouraged to begin thinking about entrepreneurial opportunities. At an early age these young girls are preparing to run businesses and how to invest profits back into other projects they may be passionate about.

 Founder Reverend Renee L. Bradford began teaching her daughter about saving, investing, and giving back to her community. As a result of those lessons, Bradford was inspired to start First Purse, Inc and spread the knowledge to other young girls. Through events like the Mother and Daughter Tea and Financial Literacy Workshops, the organization teaches guidelines to earning and investing money and inspires discussion about future aspirations.

First Purse, Inc. is also a donation site for contributions to support the women of Nairobi, Kenya. Handmade, one-of-a-kind messenger hand bags can be purchased to transform lives through employment, affordable housing, and food. Supporters can also make donations directly to First Purse, Inc. to allow the organization to continue its vision.

    We should emphasize, however, that investing isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme. Taking control of your personal finances will take work, and, yes, there will be a learning curve. But the rewards will far outweigh the required effort. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to let banks, bosses or investment professionals push your money in directions that you don’t understand. After all, no one is in a better position than you are to know what is best for you and your money. .:.;
