The Darin C. Banks Foundation is an organization founded in honor of the late Darin Catrell Banks, a wonderful husband, seasoned professional, mentor, and philanthropist. Darin passed away on January 4, 2009, but through his ceaseless efforts, he achieved his educational and professional goals during his life.
Darin, a graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan, received academic scholarships to attend Michigan State University. However, he was fully aware of the financial challenges that came with paying for colleges. With support from his family and maintaining a job while attending school, Darin graduated from Michigan State with his Bachelor’s degree. He also earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Wayne State University in Michigan.
Darin and his wife, Michelle, were dedicated to contributing their time and money to charities aimed at improving literacy, providing job training programs, and awarding college scholarships to students. In addition, Darin mentored students, college graduates, and employees by encouraging them to pursue their educational goals and by providing them with advice to navigate their careers.
Today, The Darin C. Banks Foundation seeks to provide college bound students with educational opportunities by awarding college scholarships. The Foundation also coordinates mentoring programs designed to encourage students to explore potential career paths, build character, and promote volunteer service.
