Mission Statement
The National Minority Educators Association for Charter Schools (NMEACS) was created to allow the diversity in education, talents and resources to be cultivated and brought to the forefront of the consciousness of the charter school movement.
The organizations works passionately to support educational pursuits while fostering a sense of national awareness, cross-cultural bonding and networking opportunities for minority educators.
The website lists several resources by state and holds on-demand webinars.
Goals of The National Minority Educators Association for Charter Schools:
The program goals include five main areas of education: Start-Up, Staff, Structure, Services and Supplies.
Start-Up- A key component of our efforts go towards initiating and stabilizing new effective charter schools in urban and rural areas throughout the United States.
Staff- All administrators, teachers and staff will be highly qualified and certified. Training, resources and scholarships will be available for academic advancements. Partnerships with local colleges and universities will foster recruitment for new minority educators.
Structure – Implementation will include renovations to building structures and classroom learning structures. Buildings, which have been converted into schools or newly built, will be designed for all students to learn without barriers. Classroom learning structures will address classroom management including teacher to student ratios and team teaching.
Services – It is essential for charter schools to have appropriate services related to transportation, visiting nurses and medication distributors, physical education teachers, music teachers, art teachers and other electives. We will also assist our educators and schools with partnering with other service oriented organizations. Organizations like Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, 4 H Clubs, YMCA and other service clubs will allow members to be competitive with other public and private schools.
Supplies – There will be a commitment from our organization to assist schools, minority administrators and educators with up to date textbooks and resources. Technological services and equipment are crucial to advancement of all students. There will also be a commitment for schools to obtain and maintain, safe and clean playground equipment, which will be accessible for students who may have physical disabilities.
