UIH Family Partners in Trenton, NJ is the oldest non-profit devoted to the welfare of children and families in New Jersey, having just celebrated their 150th Anniversary. Although they have seen a number of changes in
venue and programs over the years, their commitment to serving Mercer County’s most in-need and vulnerable residents has remained unwavering.
The mission of UIH Family Partners is to build effective families through innovative programs for parents and children. For over 150 years, UIH Family Partners has faithfully provided client-centered and outcomes-focused programs aimed at bolstering fragile families and equipping vulnerable, underserved people with the tools they need to grow into independent, productive adults and contributing members of the
community.
For over a decade, UIH Family Partners has been a pioneer in the emerging field of fatherhood programs. Their Father Center, located in downtown Trenton, is a multicultural parenting education and resource nexus where
“fathers learn to become dads.” While UIH Family Partners serves men from all walks of life, the majority of the men who participate in its programs are unemployed, non-custodial fathers. Many face systemic barriers to
finding and retaining employment that pays a living wage. Their services empower and equip men to play a more active and positive in the lives of their children and families, emotionally as well as financially.

UIH has also initiated a program they have entitled “Dress to Impress”. Thanks to donations from generous individuals and Men’s Warehouse, new or gently worn interview- and workplace-appropriate suits, shirts, ties,
jackets, slacks, shoes and more are made available to men who need them – free of charge. The men enjoy a unique “shopping” experience – complete with personal shoppers. They also benefit from informal mentoring
opportunities and learn about the various programs available to them through UIH Family Partners.
