Meet today’s charity spotlight Young Performing Artists (YPA), Inc. a nonprofit focused on youth, whose mission is to identify and address the specialized needs of young performing and visual artists and to provide creative solutions to youth development. The organization tells BCG their goals and objectives are to provide art education scholarships, provide opportunities for young people to access art, cultural &historical awareness, enhancement, training and education, to schedule performances, concerts and competitions for young artists, and provide assistance, resources and tools to launch careers of young artists in the Entertainment and Arts Industries.
Congratulations are in order as 2013 marks the 15th anniversary of the organization. And boy have they been busy, over the last 15 years, they have taken the opportunity to develop some tremendous programs while providing positive character building activities, self-esteem motivation, enriching art activities, cultural awareness, and historic preservation.
Funding has abled YPA to establish Sumter County’s (FL) only African American cultural and historical facility. A facility that encapsulate the rich history of one of Florida’s oldest African American communities, the Community of Royal, which has a great potential to attract tourists.
Counted among Florida’s many fine art organizations and as one of the few Florida art organizations whose mission is to identify and address the specialized needs of the young artists. From the beginning, they realized that young artists needed more than just the opportunity to entertain and children, in general, needed more than just to scratch the surface of arts to appreciate the learning. YPAs, Inc. annual school based project entitled ‘School Cultural Art Education Program’ has reached over 5,000 students over the past 11 years.
