Mission: The YCS Foundation’s mission is to fill in the gaps left by government funding, so that YCS can continue to be innovative in the ways we serve children. The Foundation can fund a programming idea before government sources realize the need, grow YCS programming outside of “traditional” problem-focused programs and provide the children in YCS’ care with everything they need to thrive.
Overview
Youth Consultation Services, YCS, is New Jersey’s leading, private, non-profit, social services agency that is dedicated to the care of thousands of defenseless children. Whether a child has experienced trauma, been separated from loved ones at a tender age, or has special needs that are not being met, YCS offers hope for a promising future. Our professional staff provides individualized services in YCS shelters, foster homes, therapeutic residences, specialized school/autism centers and in an array of community-based programs throughout the state.
Each day YCS cares for approximately 1,500 children, by providing either residential care or in-community and in-home services. Some of the children are separated from their loved ones and have been affected by trauma, others are unable to live at home because of intellectual and developmental disabilities that adversely affect their behavior. Whatever the child’s special education, mental health or behavioral health needs, the caring YCS staff is prepared to offer individualized services to both the child and family. With your support, we can help our children find hope, and cultivate strength and resilience for a brighter future. Each year YCS serves more than 4,000 children and their families, including over 450 children, teens and young adults in their therapeutic group homes, Sawtelle Homes – for children and young adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges, and our specialized foster homes.
