Chris Paul is truly stepping up to the plate in every way possible to give back, a few weeks ago we showed you how he launched the New Orleans After-School playground; today he plans to play a benefit game in Winston-Salem, and he’s bringing some friends.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the New Orleans Hornets’ star plans to play a benefit game Oct. 1 at the Gaines Center. Winston-Salem State University Chancellor Donald Reaves said the game will raise money for scholarships at the school. While Chris Paul attended Wake Forest University, his parents attended Winston-Salem State University, so it’s only natural for Paul to give back to future students. As an HBCU alum myself, I give extra kudos to Chris Paul, scholarships are vitally needed for students across the country.
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat, Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and John Wall of the Washington Wizards all plan to join Paul today.
Tickets for today’s event start at $40 available at the Anderson Center on the Winston-Salem State University campus where the event will be held.
