Black Girls Social will be hosting Cupcakes & Composition on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Sip Stir Café located in Uptown Dallas at 3800 McKinney Avenue #180, Dallas, Texas 75204. Cupcakes & Composition is an event inspiring women of all races, ages, and cultural backgrounds to share their tales of success and the obstacles they have overcome. Guest speakers will capture the audience’s hearts, while an array of sweet treats will ignite the audience’s taste buds. Sponsors of Cupcakes & Composition are Sip Stir Café, Sweet Thangs by Lo Michelle and Crumbs by Elle. The event is free; however guests and non-guests are encouraged to donate. All proceeds will benefit the Nexus Recovery Center.
Nexus is a nonprofit organization specialized in substance abuse services for women ages 13 and up and is one of very few programs that encourages mothers to bring their children with them. Tori Lee, co-founder of Black Girls Social and Lawanda McKelvy, a representative of Nexus are the guest speakers for the evening. Tori Lee has a personal connection to Nexus and will elaborate on their involvement in her life during the event.

Black Girls Social was founded in January 2012 by two friends, Tori Lee and Kellee Moore, who shared a passion to empower young women and a vision to make it happen. Black Girls Social is a networking company that strives to bring women of color from diverse industry backgrounds together by promoting collaboration, growth of professional networks, and entrepreneurship by hosting events that foster innovation, mentoring and potential partnerships.
