Event: 1st Annual Hip Hop 4 the Homeless 5K Run/Walk!

Over 100 runners and walkers are expected to attend the 1st  Annual Hip Hop 4 the Homeless 5K Run/Walk Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Fort Hunt Park, 8999 Fort Hunt Rd, Alexandria, VA 22308 in Alexandria, VA.  To register visit www.hiphop4thehomeless.wordpress.com or call 1-800-707-6469.

Sunday’s festivities will begin at 8:00 a.m. (registration begins at 7:00am) The 5K Run and Walk will follow at 8:30 a.m. This event is Free!  We do ask for monetary donations though.  Registration for this event is limited. Race day registration will be available at the event as space allows. Information about volunteering, fundraising, sponsoring an event is also posted on the website. 

Funds raised at the Hip Hop 4 the Homeless event will be donated to Washington D.C.-based organizations such as: Bread of the City, Street Sense Newspaper and Martha’s Kitchen. 

Hip Hop 4 the Homeless was designed to raise awareness of the homeless issues that many people in the US and around the world endure. Each event serves as a platform to collect donations of cash, clothing, and non-perishable food items that will be delivered to local homeless individuals and organizations that assist homeless individuals with meals, food, shelter, and clothing.
The Annual focus of this community initiative is to do than 25 events in the U.S. and abroad.   Therefore, the program assists Major Cities Worldwide by Touring with local artist from various cities and providing 25-40% of gross ticket sales back to those local communities.
 
It is the goal of the organization to raise 2 million dollars in cash through shows, donations, grants, fundraisers, community activities, product sales, and special promotions.   To date Hip hop for the homeless has conducted 10 events attracting nearly 5,000 people in Syracuse, NY, Washington, DC, Richmond, VA and Baltimore, MD raising nearly $25,000 in donations of cash, clothing and non-perishable food items. 
 
Local sponsors of the event include Check1 Entertainment, Kapital Magazine, Experience Reality Magazine, the S.T.E.V.E.
