Grant News! Congrats are in order to The Evoluer House on their recent $10,000 grant award. In support of its summer 2014 Workforce Development Program for teen girls, Philadelphia-based The Evoluer House received a $10,000 grant from the Helen D. Groome Beatty Trust, which is administered by BNY Mellon Wealth Management.

The non-profit Evoluer House was started in 2004 with a goal of “motivating girls for character and excellence.” It targets girls of color in the Philadelphia area between the ages of 13 and 18 and recently graduated its 800th participant from its program.

Evoluer House’s summer program, based at Pierce College, serves 25 girls and is taught by an acclaimed team of youth development, human resources and image professionals who cover such topics as professional etiquette, self-esteem, values-based decision-making, setting goals, exploring career paths, financial literacy, time management, interviewing skills and more.

“We provide girls with the tools they need to land a job, keep a job, and advance in their lives and careers,” Evoluer House executive director Cheryl Ann Wadlington, said. “There are more than 1.5 billion young people in the world. Half of them are girls and young women. As companies evolve, women will be leaders and will help guide the way.”

Lee James Woolley, President, Mid-Atlantic, BNY Mellon Wealth Management commented “We are strongly committed to our community and we congratulate The Evoluer House in its 10th year of successfully transforming the lives of teen girls. We are delighted to provide vital support to programs that empower young women with socio-economic and other challenges by helping them build the skills necessary for success.”

“In urban settings where girls face numerous socio-economic barriers, this grant will open more worlds of opportunity to area teen girls. We are grateful for the generosity of the Helen D. Groome Beatty Trust and for BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s belief in bright and bold futures for our girls,” said Wadlington.
