I’m a big fan of The Fellaz Youth organization out of Maryland, founded in 2004, a group of 10 young men formed The Fellaz: The Circle of Success with the purpose of hosting events to provide opportunities for young professionals to network and fellowship. As The Fellaz evolved and became more involved in the community, the need for positive young male role models became more apparent. To fill this void, The Fellaz decided to launch The Fellaz Youth Foundation, their mission is to empower, enlighten, and uplift our youth. Through group mentoring, college preparation workshops, and other workshops that teach everyday life skills, The Fellaz Youth Foundation continues to keep me in awe as they encourage our youth to dare to dream and to walk the pathway to achieve personal success.
The organization has recently began their 3rd Annual Project Prom initiative. The purpose of “Project Prom 2013” is to assist three male high school seniors, whose parents/guardians do not have the financial means to support prom expenses. “Project Prom 2013” will award the high school seniors with suits, shirts, ties, shoes, and other accessories – everything they will need to look their best on prom night. These young men will go through the whole process of learning how to wear a suit, shinning shoes, how to tie a tie, etc. The Fellaz want to not only upgrade their “Prom Attire”, but also provide them with some necessary tools that they can carry with them in life. Don’t you just love it! Well here’s how you can help. The Fellaz have asked that you please pass this information along to any High school seniors, Educators/schools, family members, friends, co workers, community centers, etc. in the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia areas (DMV) to help get the word out about The Fellaz Youth Foundation “Project Prom 2013!” For more information see the flyer below or visit www.thefellazyouth.org.
