Floyd Mayweather Donates $10,000 to The Finest Family, a Chicago Dance Group

Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr.,recently donated $10,000 to “The Finest Family”, a young professional dance group from Chicago. But they’re not the only youth who’ve recently benefited from Mayweather’s philanthropic undertakings.

The Finest Family, made up of siblings, learned how to break dance after bouncing back from homelessness. Their parents lost their jobs, along with many valuable items, but the mom kept a VHS tape of their father break-dancing, which inspired all the siblings to learn how to break dance.

They gained instant popularity as a dance group, and Floyd Mayweather become a huge fan, supporter, and mentor. However, recently, the family became in dire need of financial assistance. So, Mayweather flew the entire family to Las Vegas to meet with him and discuss their situation, and ultimately, gave the family $10,000.

The champ also is also sending kids to college with his foundation’s annual scholarship via the Fight for your Education program. The foundation strives to empower community alliances, impact youth leadership, promote health and wellness, and strengthen family foundations. The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation Scholarship is for the Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment is intended for eligible college and graduate school women who desire to work and contribute their efforts within the field. Due to the underrepresentation of this demographic in the industry, this scholarship fund has been established in order to aid women in furthering their education, encourage their valued participation in the profession, and benefit the profession as a whole.

The scholarships are all in the amount of $1,000 and are granted to applicants annually who are matriculating full-time in their sophomore, junior, senior or first year of graduate school. A minimum G.P.A. of 2.75 is required and applicants are required to be enrolled in one of the following majors in order to be eligible: Communication Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies or Journalism.

In addition, applicants must meet each of the following criteria to maintain eligibility:

1) Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.

2) Full-time enrollment required at a four-year accredited university.

3) Must be a Public Relations, Communication, Media Studies, Marketing or Journalism major with a desire to work in the entertainment or sports industry.

4) Must be able to demonstrate financial need and provide proper documentation upon request.

5) Must be a female residing in the United States.
