The Gable Heart Beats Foundation was founded following the death of Michael Gable. Michael Gable grew up in the small town of Monroe, Washington, just north of Seattle. He received a full athletic scholarship to Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. It was there he met the love of his life, Michelle, who would later become his wife and the mother of their two children, Matteo and Grace.
On September 17, 2009, Michael died unexpectedly at the age of 38 from a heart disease called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, or HCM.
HCM is the excessive thickening of the heart muscle. Two weeks later, his young daughter, Grace, was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy and spent her first birthday fighting for her life.
The Gable Heart Beats Foundation was created as a philanthropic network that would provide support for families affected by tragedies such as Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Cardiomyopathy, HCM, and other forms of heart disease. The Gable Heart Beats Foundation provides several programs:
Family Support, Counseling and Therapy; Medical Guidance, Heart Screening, Information Resource; Education, CPR Training and Prevention Programs. The foundation raises money with the support of a network of musicians, athletes,
artists, and celebrities dedicated to helping others called the Heart Beats Community. Funds are used to help the families of young children and athletes affected by sudden cardiac arrest.
