On September 26, 2013 “A Simply Born Initiative,” a charity partnership founded by music writer Monica Jones and journalist Cecilia Smith; will revive their annual Laugh 4 A Cure comedy show endeavor.
Now in its third year, “Laugh 4 A Cure” uniquely combines philanthropy with humor by bringing Houston’s brightest comedians together in order to benefit a deserving charity.
In recognition of September being the official month for Sickle Cell Awareness, this year’s event will benefit the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America; which provides quality and comprehensive services through diagnostic testing, evaluation, counseling and supportive services to individuals and families at risk for the disease and its variants.
Returning headliners include “Houston’s Funniest Person” 2012 finalist Mickey Housley, with eclectic duo All Day slated to provide a musical intermission. Participating sponsors include Dayandadream.com, Houston’s largest independent website for culture and music, as well as designers Black Republic and Moonstar Clothing, with more to be announced.
