This post may be a little personal because Young Jeezy just happens to be one of my favorite rappers so excuse me if I am bias. I remember seeing Jeezy perform “My President Is Black” with Jay-Z during the Inauguration weekend in DC and since that very moment I was a fan. Like so many celebs in the black community, you will rarely hear about all the good they do in the community and Young Jeezy is no different. While it has been said in his new documentary, “A Hustlerz Ambition” that Jeezy doesn’t like to discuss the charities because the impact he is making truly does speak for itself. His charity Street Dreams Foundation started in 2001, before Young Jeezy was really heard of, but since then ,now in it’s 10th year, Jeezy is still giving and here’s how!
- Since 2007 Young Jeezy has spearheaded a weeklong toy drive called “Toyz n da Hood” that gives away 1,000 toys to 1,000 children at various locations in Macon and Atlanta.
- He has also organized a clothes and school supplies donation program, a voter registration event, and donated $5,000 to the Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, a charity that has distributed more than $3.0 billion in food, clothing, medical, educational, toiletries, furniture and cleaning supplies to 16 Georgia counties, three states and to the Philippines, the Ivory Coast and Uganda since 1971.
- Jeezy also opened his house to victims of Hurricane Katrina to give them a place to stay.
- Jeezy was also honored for his work with getting people registered to vote as well as his philanthropic efforts at the The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball is a black tie, charity fundraiser where proceeds went to support the non-profit work of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network’s (HSAN) education advocacy and empowerment programs for young adults across America.
“I started my own nonprofit organization called Street Dreams Foundation like 10 years ago. This was before I got on. And what I would basically do is rent out the gymnasium in the local neighborhood and go buy bikes and toys and shoes and clothes and all that stuff for the kids. And I’ve been doing it for the last 10 years,” say Jeezy in an interview with Roc 4 Life.
The future is bright for Jeezy no doubt, I will be buying his album today, because he’s not just a great artist, he’s a great giver too!
This is why I love Jeezy..because of his heart..He truly makes a difference in his music and in the great things that he does to give back..Some people judges his music..but what hes doing is reaching those that relate to what hes rapping about..and once he reaches you..hes telling u with his life that u can change and u can take whateva gift you have and make it work fa you..Anything you put ya mind to ..put ya grind to, And his life is living proof that you can rise above selling dat white, and take all the business knowledge that a street hustla already has and make it work for the good. Love Me Some Jeezy******
