Jon Gheri’s Afternoon of Elegance fashion show was held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, October 14, which gave it a more sexy and intimate setting. More than 260 guests enjoyed the late afternoon meal that was given as a part of a fundraiser for the “A Love Beyond Me” Foundation which was created to uplift, encourage and inspire young children battling life threatening illnesses.
Upon entrance guests were greeted by a star-studded red carpet that included cover girl and Fashion Fair spokes model Trisha Mann as well as singer Tony Grant, Jovanny Venegas, Artanza McGuire and Kenny Lattimore.
The event started with the celebrated, multi-talented Jazz vocalist & songwriter Lisa McGlown followed by singer, writer, producer and actor Tony Grant and lastly, dance group, Miracles in Motion. Stage manager, Anthony Killibrew worked the runway the day of the show which featured some of the hottest fashions from 3 Los Angeles’s celebrity designers Johnae Elease, Jon Gheri and Bynoskia Sams. Each designer contributed his or her own touch.
Newcomer teen clothing designer Johnae Elease appeared fresh-faced and organically stunning as she showcased her first major public runway show. Her masterPiece Collection features a wide range of designs from bright graphic leggings and tops to custom sequined couture dresses. Jonae’s designs hit the catwalk and jaws hit the ground. There was a lot to take in with the “Pop Life and Architecture” inspired theme for the show.
The Jongheri Couturier collection was inspired by the runway influences of Parisian couture designs of the 40s and 50s. A combination of a Renaissance vision of the female body mixed with modern techniques, shapes, and fabrics. Each element in her collection was designed to flatter all of a woman’s unique body parts. Jongheri leaves nothing to chance and many of her pieces are designed with vintage-style pleats that follow the body lines to flatter curves.
The Bynoskia Resort Collection was inspired by the 60’s and 70’s, Bynoskia’s Resort Collection “Fruit of the Spirit” brings bright hues and vivid colors to weightless constructions evoking reactions.
Trendy celebrity hairstylist DaRico Jackson and his Glam team created the big hair for the show that was inspired by the 60’s. His glam team boasts of LA’s top glamologists that included makeup artists Rhonda Bean, Ashley Gomilla, Valerie Page and hairstylists Jasmine Brod, Feana Smith, Andrea Pezillon and Michelle McFadden.
Coordinating the event was Marcellina Hawthorne who is one of Hollywood’s premiere event companies that is known for the glamorous, high end events they create, helping to launch brands through celebrity interaction with some of the most press worthy people.
Participating Brands included: Le Chic Pup, Juju Band Concepts LLC, Higher Scents Fragrance Company, Bluebeard’s Original, Lawrence Ray Concepts and Lizette Gamez for Nerium AD, Opalima Beauty and Jadora.
