Congratulations are certainly in order to Los Angeles Lakers Shannon Brown and R&B singer Monica who were married last weekend! At BCG we salute the positive our celebrities are doing and Shannon Brown in partnership with former champion NBA player Michael Finley are stepping it up in a big way for Chicago youth with their first annual WoodStar Festival July 28th-31st!
The WoodStar Festival is a combination of both a concert and carnival to benefit Brown and Finley’s foundations as well as the Proviso school district in Chicago. The festival will feature a series of five concerts over three days to include genres: Old School, New School, R &B Soul, Gospel and a grand finale concert. Artists scheduled to appear include: Slick Rick. Big Daddy Kane, YoYo, MC Lyte, Naughty by Nature, Michel’le, SWV, Juelz Santana, Roscoe Dash, K Michelle, John Blu, Rotimi, Renaissance, Twista, Chico Debarge, Tweet, Faith Evans, Jon B, Silk, Carl Thomas, Terisa Griffin, Issac Carree, Tami Haddon, James Fortune, N’Tegri-T, Nelly and Ace Hood with more to be added.
The all ages carnival will feature games and rides, the carnival is uniquely titled The Funtastic Cove Children’s Festival. The children’s fest will be open Thursday- Sunday from 11-9 PM and feature face painting, characters, balloonist, petting zoo, magic show and more.
Shannon Brown is also giving fans a chance to hang out personally with him throughout the weekend with the “A Night on the Town with Shannon Brown” Contest. Fans can enter by donating a minimum of $5 to the Shannon Brown foundation at www.shannonbrown.me. The winner will receive a trip for 2 to Chicago, dinner with Shannon at his favorite hometown restaurant and two VIP tickets to the Saturday night concert.

Funds raised from this event will go to benefit the Proviso East High School renovation project in Chicago, IL, The Shannon Brown Foundation and the Michael Finley Foundation.
