Kicking off the four day event with a riveting opening address at the Morial Convention Center; President Barack Obama set a precedent for what the weekend was to hold. A true chance meeting to meet movers and shakers around the country; was no hard task. The city was filled with nearly 4,000 registered participants for the conference. Former New Orleans mayor and Urban League President, truly rolled out the red carpet for attendees Informative panels, workshops, a career fair, networking events and a Chaka Khan conference were just some of the many activities taking place.
Because this is a presidential election year, the conference’s theme is “Empower the nation…Occupy the vote,” with a focus on education and employment, said Morial.
The conference also focused it’s efforts on exporting youth, the future of our generation with guest speakers running the gam met from Soledad O’Brien to appearances by Stevie Wonder, New Orleans was the place to be.
BCG had the opportunity to host our one year celebration at the Eiffel Society in the lower-garden district of New Orleans. With nearly 350 guests, a live band, VIP attendees, food, drinks, champagne toast and more we had an incredible event. Honoring three local New Orleans nonprofits and actor Lamman Rucker, we ended year one in style.
