Humanity Road provides disaster preparedness and response support for the public both before and after disaster. “Dance has healing effects, we chose the One Day One Dance event as our National Preparedness Month spotlight because of the healing effects dance has on post traumatic stress syndrome and post-disaster recovery” Said Cat Graham with Humanity Road. “We want the world to know that there is so much more to the country of Haiti, and taking time to celebrate life and dance is important.”
Haiti has a long history of beautiful art and culture including music and dance. Konpa is a dance that carries a heartbeat that has long been the source of joy for the citizens of Haiti. The combination of music and dance creates a rhythm that becomes not only a symphony for the head but a dialogue of the body.
Humanity Road is looking to raise $5,000 to support the charities hosting this event on September 21, 2011. Making a donation today will help promote the cultural identity of Haiti, support sustained growth through promotion of Haitian art and artists, and help celebrate World Peace Day.
