Bobby V is not only a platinum selling R&B singer, he is also a budding philanthropist and founder of the Bobby V Foundation (BVF). The Bobby V. Foundation was created to foster a cohesive unit that assists urban students in the navigation of life. R&B singer Bobby V. says he has always believed that it is important to give back to his community and those who have need. He grew up assisting the elderly and under privileged youth in Atlanta and wanted to create a place in his life that allowed him to continue to assist those populations.
The Bobby V Foundation recently held their very first event to raise funds for the continuation of the Metro Atlanta Urban Farm! In attendance was Bobby V’s mother and father, Kofe, the winner of a scholorship from the BVF who recently graduated, other members of Bobby V’s family, lots of music industry professionals, and family friends!
Guests enjoyed a bevy of interesting stories about the Metro Urban Farm, and how Bobby V came of age working the farm. The Mission of The Metro Atlanta Urban Farm is to reduce barriers to Metro Atlanta healthy living in urban communities by encouraging, promoting and supporting health education and sustainable high-quality low-cost agricultural production through gardening and farming training.
The food for the fundraising was prepared on-site with ingredients that were grown on the farm, or fished out of the nearby creek! Guests tell BCG the food tasted so fresh, definitely more organic than anything they’d ever tasted.
Bobby V. has made it one of his life mission to give back and so far his mission is on the right path. The foundation states they have raised over $100,000 in donations to the urban farming project, and in the next few weeks, will look to raise more to continue their projects!
“My foundation is very important to me. I’m a graduate of Clark Atlanta University and giving students the opportunity to receive a college scholarship from the Bobby V Foundation is such a joy. Receiving your degree is an accomplishment that nobody can take away from you. That’s why I will continue to sup port and motivate the youth to attend college,” says Bobby V.
The BVF has one purpose, to assist our nations’ youth in navigating the triumphs and challenges of their everyday world through strong educational and artistic initiatives.
