San Diego Charger Dwight Freeney Joined Forces with After-School All-Stars to Tackle Childhood Obesity! San Diego Chargers’ Dwight Freeney is cooking up a way to help tackle childhood obesity. Joined by San Diego Magazine Food Editor Troy Johnson, the two showcased their culinary passions by teaming up with After-School All-Stars. It’s part of a new program titled “Sports As A Hook.”
“Dwight didn’t waste anytime getting involved in the San Diego community,” said Executive Director Tyree Dillingham. “Health and fitness are very important to him, so this program is the perfect way for him to give back!”
The hands on cooking event featured students from the After-School All-Stars’ Monarch School program in the hopes of blending sports and healthy cooking. The goal is to educate kids on the importance of good nutrition, and urban gardening.
