The BURGER KING® Scholars Program has awarded more than $15.4 million to high school seniors and employees across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since the program’s inception in 2000. This year alone we awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships to 1,258 students, and introduced and awarded four new major scholarships, including one King $25,000 award and three James W. McLamore WHOPPER™ Scholarship $50,000 awards.
The James W. McLamore WHOPPER™ Scholarship awards were made possible thanks to the generosity of the McLamore Family Foundation.
Applicants must:
- Be residents of the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico
- Be graduating high school seniors (U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada
- Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent
- Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2012-13 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico
In addition to the $1,000 awards, there are more scholarships than ever including:

* $5,000 Regional Awards

November 15 – Application period opens
2012
January 10 – Application period closes
March/April – E-notifications are sent to recipients and non-recipients
August 15 – Award checks are sent to recipients (including any employees pursuing an enrichment program who designate August 15 as preferred check date). Checks are made payable to the accredited institution for the student.
