Tyler James Williams, Coco Jones, and Trevor Jackson, stars of the Disney film “Let it Shine” were also in attendance. Tyler James Williams plays Chris Rock as a youngster in BET’s “Everybody Hate’s Chris”.
Nominated for “Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture, Theatrical or Television,” were Elizabeth Hunter (Jumping the Broom), Zoanne Clack (Grey’s Anatomy), Mara Brock Akail (The Game) and Erika L. Green (The Mentalist). George Lucas will win the highly coveted NAACP Vanguard Award for the against all odds film “Red Tails”. “Red Tails”, 2012 action packed thriller highlights the story of the Tuskegee Airmen of the 332nd Fighter Group of African America United States Army Air Force (USAAF) service group who fought in World War II. The film featured Terrance Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Ne-Yo, and Nate Parker. This year the 43rd NAACP Image Awards has returned to its original broadcasting station, NBC in a two-hour live television celebration on Friday, February 17, 2012.
