I often credit my introduction to No More Victims, Inc. in 2007 with my love and passion for non-profits, giving and knowing the power of social change that comes from simply caring. A great friend of mine introduced me to Marilyn Gambrell in 2007, telling me I had  to meet this woman, listen to her stories and the stories of the kids she is helping. Needless to say, I was amazed at the work she does and I am not the only one, her story has been featured on CNN, a nominated CNN Hero, Nickeloedon, ABC’s Secret Millionaire and Lifetime has even made a movie about her ‘Fighting the Odds’. With slogans: ‘Prison is not an Option” and “I’m Getting Educated Not Incarcerated” driving the organization that has now impacted over 1,000 youth, many indeed beating the odds, never going to prison, graduating with honors and even attending Ivy League schools, without a doubt anything is possible!

No More Victims has been supported by Kelly Rowland, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire and many more. However, one of the biggest supporters of the organization if not the biggest supporter of the organization has been Houston rapper and Grand Hustle artist Trae tha Truth. Trae is certainly no stranger to good deeds and giving back, in 2008, Trae Tha Truth was awarded by the mayor of Houston, Bill White and Council Member Peter Brown with his own day, Trae Day, in honor of his outstanding work within the community. This is the first time the honor has been extended to a rap artist. Trae Day was celebrated July 22, 2008 and continues to take place every year with more than 10,000 people supporting!

“The No More Victims program is a necessity in our society. When I first met Ms. Gambrell and the children in the organization, I immediately felt love and hope. I can absolutely relate to their life experiences,” say Trae!

No More Victims, Inc. (NMVI), a non-profit 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) organization was created in 1993 to address the needs and issues of children experiencing the trauma of parental incarceration. The founder and CEO, Ms. Marilyn Gambrell, a former Texas parole officer, created the NMVI “healing the CHILD within” Program for this most at-risk population of children. She witnessed how devastated children were as they witnessed their mothers and/or fathers being arrested. Often times, the little ones would try to run after the police car, screaming for their parent(s).

“I am proud to be a family member of No More Victims. This program was created to help the children cope with their reality, what they know and live everyday. They now know that they can take a different path….education not incarceration.”
