Wow congrats are in order to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation who this year celebrates 15 years of giving back through the arts!
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation celebrated 15 years of its “Leadership & The Arts” Summer Camp with its annual performance “From The Rose” starring PAC’s Kids at TASF Campus and Seven Stages Theater in Atlanta, GA in July.
Since 1998, TASF’s annual Performing Arts Camps (PAC) has provided quality training and support for youth who aspire to enhance their creative talents. Classes include acting, creative writing, dance, vocal training, set and stage design, business of entertainment, video and music production. To date, more than 2,000 youth ages 7-18 have participated in the summer camp. The skills acquired during PAC culminate into a closing ceremony production, called “From The Rose.”
TASF is home to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts, founded by Afeni Shakur, in fulfillment of Tupac’s vision to open a performing arts center and theater for inner city youth. Tupac studied Shakespeare, theater, ballet and honed his acting skills at The Baltimore School of The Arts, where he attended with lifelong friend, Jada-Pinkett Smith.
Foundation executives are working on the second phase of Tupac’s vision, the completion of a state of the art performing arts theater that will house performances by PAC’s Kids. The foundation’s mission is to provide quality arts training for youth (in a safe environment), encourage freedom of expression, serve as resource for families and empower via education.
