Description: The Foundation has adopted four areas of focus: Education, Workforce Development/Economic Opportunity, Environmental Sustainability and Health and Wellness. The Walmart Foundation encourages funding requests that align with its four areas of focus – programs that do not align with the four areas of focus will not be considered. The Foundation’s current focus in on hunger relief.
In every state that Wal-Mart is in across the country, there are underserved populations who need help. The State Advisory Councils, made up of Walmart associates representing each state, including Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico, determine the needs within each state, review all eligible grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Walmart Foundation.
The State Giving Program awards grants from the Foundation of $25,000 to $250,000.
Nonprofit organizations must operate on a regional/state level or be affiliates/chapters of larger organizations that operate on the regional/state level.
Before applying, please note:
- The State Giving Program has two application cycles per year. The first cycle runs January to March. The second funding cycle begins in June and ends in August.
- Applications must be completed in full and submitted online to be considered.
- Submitting an online application does not guarantee funding.
- The State Giving Council and the Walmart Foundation reserve the right to adjust guidelines, submission deadlines and notification dates without prior notice.
